The Heavenly Virtue

Level 5, Gnosis 7

This is a long and finely polished and beautifully decorated spear that other than some cunning horn inlay and a brilliant jade green tassel beneath its head is made entirely of gleaming hongmu (a sacred variety of rosewood). This exceedingly honorable weapon of the Bianxing Zhe is blessed of the Emerald Mother, imbued with two spirits in the manner of a Grand Klaive, one a spirit of War and the second a Typhoon spirit. This spear is death to the Kumo, as surely as a silver Klaive to the Sunset People.

The difficulty to attack with this weapon is 6, and it inflicts Str + 3 aggravated damage, which counts as Hongmu, so Kumo cannot soak its attacks. Throwing range 5 yards for every dot of strength. Each success on a Gnosis activation roll adds 1 die to the character’s Athletics pool for the purpose of throwing attacks.

A: When were you born?   06/29/86

B: Where were you born?  A small town north of Los Angeles called Old Town a few miles east 

of the 5 freeway near Grapevine, CA

C: What was happening in the region during your childhood?  It’s a pretty sleepy town but a small pack of Black Furies from the Loom of the Fates Sept pass through on occasion.  

D: Who raised you?  My father Maximus Zika.  

E: In what environment were you raised in?  A happy if busy home.  Maximus owned Sunder Vineyards and I grew up working the vineyard

F: How did you deal with your latent Rage?  I mostly channeled it through hard work on the farm environmental and political activism and the debate team.  There might have been a few suspensions in school for fighting too. 

G: What events shaped your character and personality?I knew I was Black Fury Kinfolk from a young age.  My father realized he was little more than breeding stock for the pack that would go through our small town and while he did raise me in the ways of the Garou I could tell he secretly hoped that I wouldn’t change. The change occurred the day I found out the government used eminent domain to buy the vineyard for pennies on the dollar. They then turned around and sold the land to Pentex for a fracking operation.  Maximus ran fortunately, but I destroyed a big portion of the farm.  I then came back and destroyed a big portion of the fracking operation, at least for a time.  I ran with the black furies before the rite of passage but the pack’s misandry turned me off to the pack.  I believed in a lot of their ideals such as trying to end human trafficking and sexual slavery but I couldn’t reconcile their hatred of men.  My natural inclination towards balance from being Philidox led me to not only a love for Gaia but for man as well.  It was a natural move to gravitate towards the Glass Walkers.  My mother was less than pleased.  

H: What did you do for a living (or to survive)?  Growing up I worked on the Vineyard I am now an environmental lawyer 

H-1: What pre-change skills do you have?  I have been shooting since I was 6.  I developed a knack for it.  I also have debate skills I have honed over years in schools

H-2: How do you use those skills today? 

I: Do you have any living relatives? (Parents, Siblings, Spouse, Children?) Both Parents are alive.  Mother is a Black Fury by the name of Death on the Leaves.  

I-1: Do you still maintain contact with them?  My father more so than my mother, but I still try with her. She is understandably still a bit upset with me for not joining the black furies.

I-2: How do you get along with them? My father and I get along great.  He lives in Pasadena fairly close to my Apartment in Burbank 

I-3: What are they doing now?  Mother is fighting against the Wyrm as she should be.  Dad is working using his wine experience as a sommelier in an upscale French restaurant called Perch.  He is honestly making more money doing what he is doing now but doesn’t find it as satisfying.

J: Are you currently in a relationship?  Too busy with work and the fight.  I do occasionally take a kinfolk to bed for needs and breeding.  

K: What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?  Most of the highlights of my life are from fighting Pentex either in the courtroom or destroying their drilling or fracking sites.  Though I have a few victories against other agents of the Wyrm

K-1: How did you react?  I was a bit preoccupied with losing the farm so I put alot of my energy into destroying Pentex.  I didn’t take much solace in the victories at first because there is always more to fight but recently I have found that there is satisfaction in destroying the Wyrm however you can and in whatever numbers you can.

K-2: What are the repercussions in your life today?  I am not quite as single minded in my fight against Pentex but I still hate them more than any other foe.  

K: What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you?  My packmates have been killed off one by one leaving only myself

K-1: How did you react?  I fell into a bit of a depression

K-2: What are the repercussions in your life today?  I am without a pack searching for some kind of purpose or at least another pack that will take me in

L: Is there anyone from your pre-change life whom you hated? Why did/do you feel that way?  There was a group of girls that picked on my during school for my difficult to tame curly hair.  They were the ones I would usually get suspended for fighting.

L-1: Are they still around, and do you still feel the same?  No, pre change hatreds are silly and petty when there are valid things to hate out there.

Background: Garou Existence

A: When did you first change? Age 14

A-2: Was it traumatic or transcendent?  Traumatic as explained earlier

A-3: How did you react to your first change? I used the rage for vengeance

A-4: How does this existence make you feel? Purposeful.  I have always felt a connection to Gaia from working the land at the vineyard but loved the advantages of living so close to the city.

B: Have you undergone your rite of passage? yes

B-1: How did your rite of passage go?  Our pack and I were tasked with destroying a pentex oil drilling operation by whatever means necessary.  We went out in the dead of night and after taking care of the night security.  Wyrm tainted Pentex employees we shut down the machinery so that a spill wouldn’t occur and then proceeded to destroy the machinery with explosives from the site.   The mission went like clockwork.

C: How do you deal with your rage?  I have found an outlet being a rather aggressive lawyer.  Also killing Pentex Bastards is an incredible relief.  

D: What is your legal status? (Do you have a birth certificate, driver’s license, social security number, etc)  I have and maintain all of these things

E: Do any non-kinfolk know about your true nature? I have a good friend named Nicole Browne who I went to law school with.  I was attacked by fomori while we were out and had to reveal my nature.  She was obviously a little freaked out at first but we have been friends since childhood and has become a great confidant.  I have never taken Crinos form in front of her just Glabro though I rarely take Crinos form in general.

E-1: Why do they keep your secret?  She is my best friend.

F: Do you have human contacts, allies or influences? Yes.  I have a Judge Friend who was a mentor while coming up through Law School by the name of Judge Helen Ayami.  I also have a “friend” who was an underclassman while I was getting my undergrad at UCLA. His name is Hunter Barker. He is smart, charismatic, and effective but a little pervy so I always kept him at arm’s length. He is now the President of the California chapter of the AAF.  He is responsible for a lot of my cases and some of my more clandestine actions.  He has also never asked a question when one of the sites he previously mentioned goes sky high.  He isn’t a stupid man so I assume he knows, he just silently condones.   

F-1: How do you hide your true nature from them?  Judge Ayami appreciates my aggressive nature as a lawyer and Hunter probably thinks I am a eco-terrorist (I mean he’s right) so I think he would be weirded out if I didn’t give off an aura of danger.

G: Do you still find pleasure in contact with non-kinfolk humans?  Yes even if they are often cowed by my presence.

G-1: What are your preferences in human companionship?  I keep a small group of girlfriends some from school, some from the office.  I tend to scare off non kinfolk men after a while but I still try on occasion.  

H: Are there any Garou whom you utterly despise? (Why?)  No though a few Garou of my Mother’s sept don’t like me much for becoming a Glass Walker.  

H-1: Are they around you on a regular basis? No

H-2: How do you handle your enmity? 

Motivation

A: What are your short-term goals?  Currently there is a Pentex Land Deal she is trying to stop but the court date isn’t for several weeks yet.

B: What are your long-term goals?  To expose Pentex’s dealing and destroy the company’s ability to continue hurting Gaia.  

B-1: ...Within the coming year?

B-2: ...Within the next 10 years?

C: Do you follow any religion?  Raised Greek Orthadox but I do not practice

C-1: Why that particular religion?  It is what my father was

C-2: Are you a devout worshiper? no

C-3: Where does your faith come from?  While I am a believer I find the connection to both Gaia and the Weaver to be far more powerful

C-4: How do you maintain your faith now that you are Garou?  I don’t 

D: Are you a devout member of any non-religious cause? I am a member of several environmental and humanitarian groups including the AAF, The Surfrider Foundation, Greenpeace, Habitat for Humanity and The Polaris Project (Anti-Human Trafficking org she got involved with during her brief time with the Black Furies and also the reason she turned her back on the furies.  They found a group of people being trafficked for sex work.  There were both men and women that were being held separately in a rundown house.  After saving the women the Furies chose to leave.  She elected to stay and release the men herself having to kill 3 non wyrm tainted humans in the process.  She never returned to the furies.  She still supports the Polaris Project’s cause however.)

E: Is there a race, creed, religion, etc. against which you are strongly prejudiced?  Firmly no

F: What is your greatest fear? Solitude  After losing my pack I am afraid of losing everyone I care about. I can be a little overprotective of my father and friends. 

G: What is your greatest want?  A secret desire is to be able to buy my father a new vineyard.  I don’t really make near enough as an environmental lawyer to do so and a lot of what I do make goes to weapons for the fight.  

H: Is there any task that you would refuse to do on moral grounds?

I: What is your greatest regret?  During one of my ops I was after a Pentex executive.  I stole into his house in the dead of night and was going to put a bullet into his head when I tripped.  He woke up and shot me with a silver bullet.  I frenzied.  I tore him apart but I don’t regret that.  His family was supposed to be away for the weekend at his wife’s parents,  but his youngest child a young girl aged 5 was sick and had stayed at home.  During my Frenzy she got in my path.  I have never told anyone.  It made the news so I just never took credit for killing the exec.  I doubt that many of my fellow Garou would hold it against me but it was me who couldn’t handle it.

J: What actions, taken in the past or recently, do you feel most guilty about?  I was not there when my last packmate fell.  I don’t know if my presence would have changed anything but the guilt makes me wonder.

G: What would you do with one wish?  I would like to think I would be selfless.  Maybe do something that devastates the Wyrm.  I wouldn’t use it against Pentex for sure.  I want their fall to be my doing.  Call me selfish.  I guess I wouldn’t know unless I actually had the opportunity

K: What are your hobbies?  I like Surfing and Skateboarding though I hardly have time for either anymore.
